About Our Client:

Our client is a global player in the chemical industry, operating a major production facility in the United States with approximately 250 employees. The company is entering a strategic site closure process due to business realignment. The assignment is highly sensitive, with far-reaching operational, environmental, and human implications. Due to the nature and scope of the engagement, all details are subject to a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

Project Description:

We are offering a high-impact interim leadership opportunity for a senior executive to take on the role of Interim Site Leader / Interim CEO at a U.S.-based chemical production site. This engagement focuses on the strategic ramp-down and closure of a 250-person facility, ensuring continuity, compliance, and control during a critical phase of business transformation. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the full closure roadmap, from operational wind-down to site clean-up and compliance documentation.
  • Direct and support an on-site management team through a complex and emotionally charged transition.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, local authorities, and corporate headquarters.
  • Oversee stakeholder communications, ensure team cohesion, and manage retention risk throughout the
  • ramp-down.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety, environmental, and legal frameworks, including U.S. regulatory standards.
  • Provide regular briefings to top leadership and contribute to broader group-level strategy during the transition.

Interim Manager Required Skills:

This assignment requires a very senior interim executive with strong leadership credentials and proven crisis experience in industrial settings. Must-Have Qualifications:
  • Substantial track record as CEO, COO, or Plant Director in the chemical or broader process industry.
  • Prior experience in plant closures, crisis management, and industrial transitions in the U.S.
  • Strong crisis communication skills: able to manage internal and external messaging during uncertainty.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain employee engagement and morale during layoffs, reorganizations, or shutdowns.
  • Familiarity with U.S. environmental regulations and compliance standards in the chemical sector is a significant advantage.
  • Hands-on, pragmatic, emotionally intelligent, and fully capable of working on-site in the U.S.
