About Our Client:
Our client is a private equity-owned European industrial manufacturer supplying precision metal components to demanding B2B sectors, including automotive and commercial vehicles. The group operates across several European locations and has established a major production hub in Bosnia and Herzegovina with more than 500 employees on site.
The company is in a critical transformation phase and requires immediate stabilisation, restructuring discipline, and operational turnaround leadership. As part of its recovery plan, the group is consolidating and relocating production volumes from multiple European sites into Bosnia and Herzegovina to achieve economies of scale, improve cost competitiveness, and secure long-term manufacturing continuity.
To stabilise the operation, protect customer delivery, and regain operational control, we are looking for an Interim Plant Manager with strong turnaround, crisis management, and industrial transfer experience.
Project Description:
The Interim Plant Manager will take full operational responsibility for the plant, stabilising daily execution while leading a high-pressure turnaround and restructuring programme. This is a crisis-driven assignment requiring strong shop-floor authority, disciplined performance management, and the ability to deliver measurable results quickly within a private equity environment. Key responsibilities include:
Crisis Stabilisation & Operational Control: Restore disciplined execution across production, quality, delivery, cost, and workforce performance, ensuring stability in day-to-day operations.
Turnaround & Restructuring Delivery: Lead operational restructuring actions to reduce losses, strengthen cost control, improve productivity, and stabilise output performance under pressure.
Factory Relocation & Manufacturing Consolidation: Execute the transfer and ramp-up of production volumes from multiple European sites into Bosnia and Herzegovina, ensuring minimal disruption and controlled integration.
Operational Performance Improvement: Drive measurable performance improvement through structured governance, KPI routines, and daily management systems, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Workforce Discipline & Leadership Stabilisation: Rebuild execution discipline and accountability across the organisation, stabilising workforce performance in a high-temporary-labour environment.
Risk Management & Compliance Readiness: Operate effectively under heightened scrutiny, ensuring operational continuity, compliance readiness, and controlled stakeholder communication.
Stakeholder & Investor Reporting: Report directly to the Private Equity Investment Partner, providing clear status transparency, risk escalation, and turnaround progress reporting.
Interim Manager Required Skills:
The ideal candidate for this Interim Plant Manager role is a senior interim executive leader with proven crisis management maturity and a strong track record in plant turnaround and restructuring. Key qualifications and experience include:
Proven Plant Leadership in Industrial Manufacturing: 15+ years in automotive, industrial production, or high-volume manufacturing, with strong shop-floor leadership and end-to-end site accountability.
Turnaround and Restructuring Experience: Demonstrated success stabilising loss-making operations, delivering restructuring measures, and achieving rapid operational performance recovery.
Crisis Management and Stabilisation Capability: Proven ability to restore order, discipline, and execution control in disrupted environments with high operational pressure.
Factory Relocation and Industrial Transfer Expertise: Strong track record in cross-border manufacturing consolidation, factory transfer, and production ramp-up initiatives.
Operational Excellence and Performance Improvement: Strong Lean manufacturing capability with a KPI-driven approach to productivity improvement, waste reduction, and execution discipline.
Workforce Stabilisation and Discipline Reset: Experience leading large workforces with high temporary labour dependency, rebuilding standards, accountability, and engagement.
Private Equity Environment Readiness: Comfortable reporting directly to investors, operating at pace, and delivering measurable outcomes with transparency and urgency.
