The situation

Strong demand, a footprint in motion, and customers who expect every delivery

We are working on a mandate for a Private Equity backed industrial group that is reshaping its US manufacturing footprint. As part of this plan, production at one of its US plants will be relocated to other sites over the coming months.

Demand for the plant’s products is strong, and customers count on reliable deliveries throughout the move. The operation needs experienced leadership now: to steady the shop floor, bring delivery performance back on track and run the factory relocation without losing a single customer.

We are looking for an experienced Interim Plant Manager on site within a week: someone who has relocated production before and keeps the operation running while the work moves.

Confidential mandateFurther mandate details will be shared with qualified Interim Managers under a signed non-disclosure agreement. CE Interim publishes every mandate anonymously to protect the companies it works for.

Your mandate

Run the plant and the factory relocation at the same time

As Interim Plant Manager, you take full operational responsibility for the site and report to the group’s divisional leadership. The mandate runs in three overlapping phases.

  • Stabilise and deliver. Lead production, planning, quality and the shop floor. Restore on-time delivery and hold it there.
  • Relocate. Build and execute the factory relocation plan: line sequencing, safety stock, equipment moves and requalification, so customers stay supplied at every step.
  • Hand over. Support the production start-up at the receiving sites, transfer process knowledge and hand over a fully documented operation.

Leading people through change is at the heart of this mandate: a focused team, confident customers and close cooperation with the receiving sites.
Expected results

Success is a relocation your customers never notice

Within the first 90 days, and at completion around six months in:

  • On-time delivery restored and stable within the first 90 days
  • A factory relocation plan agreed with the group and the receiving sites, with clear milestones
  • A team aligned on priorities and roles for the months ahead
  • Production relocated with no interruption to customer supply
  • Equipment moved and requalified at the receiving sites
  • A documented, orderly handover to the group
The Interim Manager we look for

A US plant leader who has moved production before

You are a US-based Plant Manager or Operations Director with hands-on factory relocation experience. You have moved production lines between sites, kept customers supplied while doing it, and led teams through demanding change.

You are calm under pressure, visible on the shop floor and direct in your communication. You take ownership from day one and measure yourself by results, not activity.
Your fit

This mandate is for a hands-on Interim Plant Manager, on site within a week

  • At least one factory relocation or production line transfer led end to end in the United States
  • Proven on-time delivery recovery in a discrete manufacturing environment
  • Plant Manager or Operations Director level, with full site responsibility
  • Hands-on experience moving and requalifying equipment between sites
  • Fluent English and the right to work in the United States
  • Available to be on site full time within a week, for about six months
  • Experience in a Private Equity backed company is an advantage
